Chelsea vs Leicester City - Tips & Preview - Blues Striving To Redeem Their 2023-24 Season

The woes for Chelsea continue this season as the Blues have struggled to remain in the top half of the Premier League table despite a major overhaul of players over the summer. The Blues secured an important victory over Newcastle United at home in the Premier League last weekend which will add to their confidence for the upcoming fixture. With new ownership, Chelsea have struggled massively to find their old form since the past two seasons. 

This season, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are placed 11th and have been in and out of the top half of the EPL table with a mixed bag of results. Chelsea have won just two of their last five games, with a loss against Liverpool and draws against Brentford and Manchester City. 

Leicester City have also struggled in recent times after getting relegated from the top flight last season. They have also managed just two wins in their last five games with losses against Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United, and a frustrating 2-2 draw against Hull City last weekend. Despite the recent poor form, the Foxes are leading the Championship table with 26 wins in 37 games so far. 

Chelsea have a long injury list to add to Pochettino’s worries, with stars like Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Christopher Nkunku, and Wesley Fofana all unavailable for this Sunday. Leicester meanwhile, will only miss Ricardo Pereira and Dennis Praet. 

A tough match to predict the outcome as Chelsea have done well in knockout competitions this season, reaching the EFL Cup final where they were thwarted by Liverpool. On the other hand, Enzo Maresca’s side have a fantastic away form this season, having lost only three of their 19 away games. 

They will definitely give the home side a run for their money on Sunday. Nevertheless, the Blues boast of a superior head-to-head record against the visitors with 13 wins in the last 23 games. They have also not lost to Leicester in the last five meetings (4W, 1D). The oddsmakers will back the home side for this one.
