It’s that time of the year again when the esports world is brimming with excitement and anticipation for what is to come. The LCK Spring Split 2024 - back, bigger and better - is past its week six, with the playoff qualifiers identified. Fierce rivalries, off-season trades and some rule changes have all added a fascinating subplot to the season.

The ten teams play each other in a double round-robin format, with best-of-three brackets. The top six qualify for the Spring Playoffs. The Spring Split runs until April 14.

The LCK Spring Split is being streamed live on Twitch via the official LCK channel. There’s no reason to miss the action. You can tune in to the broadcast in multiple languages, too. If you missed the games, you can catch up with the VoDs on the League of Legends esports channel.

LCK Is A Launch Vehicle For Worlds 2024

The top two LCK teams from the Spring Split will earn the right to be at MSI 2024. Riot Games, the organizers, have announced a slight tweak to how teams will qualify and how many will compete in the Worlds this year. Results at MSI will directly impact teams and the regions they belong to this year.

The teams that win MSI 2024 will have to secure a berth for their region’s Summer Playoff or its equivalent. This has been essentially introduced to ensure teams are still committed to success in their home league. The region with the second-best performance at MSI 2024 will earn an additional spot at Worlds 2024.

How Things Stand In The League Table

As things stand after week six, Gen G tops the charts with a 15-1 Win-Loss record a third of the season in, with T1 and Hanwha Life Esports second and third with a 13-3 record. KT Rolster are fourth, but are three wins adrift of their nearest challengers, while Dplus KIA and Kwangdong Freecs round off the top six.

The Freecs can still be dethroned from the playoff zone, given they’re currently on a 6-10 record, having lost four on the bounce. Their nearest competitors, FearX, are currently seventh and are on a two-match winning streak. Another win will take them joint-sixth. And then it’s anybody’s game for that final spot.

The playoffs will be played in a double-elimination bracket from round two. The top two seeds receive a bye to the second round, while third to sixth-placed teams start in round one. All the losing teams are straightaway eliminated. All matches will be played in a best-of-five format.

Having won in 2022 and 2023, Gen G are in a fantastic position to gun for a historic third consecutive spring championship. The addition of Kim “Kin” Gi-in, a former top laner with KT Rooster and legendary support Son “Lehends” Is-woo have made them even more formidable. They won’t have it easy, though, with second-placed T1 having carried momentum and form from last year when they won the Worlds and the Summoner’s Cup in November last year.

They’ve kept faith in the same roster that led them to a win there, and so far, they’ve repaid the faith, with legendary Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok occupying his famed mid-lane. The battle of the mid-lanes will be fascinating to watch, especially with Jeong “Chovy” Ji-Hoon holding it down for Gen G along with the talented Kim “Peyz” su-Hwan. It’s a combination that brings with it plenty of promise and possibilities.

There are others who have made a complete structural overhaul, retaining only Heo “ShowMaker” Su and Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu. ShowMaker and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu will be on opposite sides for the first time since Shoemaker’s debut. Canyon’s vacancy has been filled by 18-year-old Choi “Lucid” Yong-hyeok.

Dplus KIA were found wanting in the macro abilities department, and they’ve hardly done much to change that this time around. Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon, shining as the Worlds 2022 Finals MVP, held out plenty of promise, but he hasn’t been able to build on it. All told, Dplus KIA are strong but have some distance to traverse before they can challenge for the title this time around.

Betting Possibilities

Betting on League of Legends and the LCK adds great excitement to viewers and fans. It’s a wonderful way to expand your knowledge as a fan.

Esports betting has grown leaps and bounds over the last five years, and those who have built a decent understanding of teams, the dynamics and tournament match-ups can find massive value in live underdogs and undervalued favourites, who could give them wholesome returns.

Moneyline

The most basic type of bet one can place is the Moneyline bet, where bettors wager on the match winner, which in standard play is either best-of-three or best-of-five. Ensure you check out the odds and payouts for each team.

This is rather unique and is based on the team’s history, head-to-head, and player availability, which determines their chance of winning. If two teams are evenly matched, then bets on either will fetch similar returns. If there’s a giant mismatch, then the bets are adjusted accordingly.

Spread Bets

Spread Bets is a popular option which lists the favourites and the underdogs. A bet on favourites at -1.5, for example, means they must win 2-0. A bet on an underfoot at +1.5 means a payout if the underdog wins outright or loses 2-1.

Total Bets

This is for the informed bettors who have all the data and numbers. If you’re certain which two teams will split the first two games, you can bet on this possibility. Similarly, a bet on Under 2.5 rounds isn’t tied to a winner as long as either side scores a 2-0 win.

Prop Bets

These cover a wide range of in-game options, like who starts in the mid-lane, who will be the first to 10 kills, who will destroy the first tower, etc. Only specific types of sports books offer these in their offerings, but there are plenty of exciting wager options for these kinds of bets.

Future Bets

These bets are, as the name suggests, punts on which teams will make the playoffs, which among them will be the first to qualify, which team loses the most number of games, which side will finish with the most kills, etc.
